Waste and Recycling Collections

In order to encourage quality recycling and maintain Wales as one of the leading recycling nations in the world a new law will come in to effect on 06/04/2024 which requires all workplaces including businesses, public bodies and the third sector to separate recyclable materials from their general waste.

As part of the Workplace Recycling Regulations the following recycling streams have been defined:

  • Food leftovers or waste generated by food preparation
  • Unsold small waste electrical and electronic equipment (sWEEE)
  • Paper and card such as old newspapers and envelopes, delivery boxes and packaging
  • Metal, plastic, and cartons and other similar packaging (for example coffee cups)
  • Glass such as drinks bottles and food jars
  • Unsold textiles such as clothing and non-clothing

More detailed information can be found in the Separate Collection of Waste Materials for Recycling: A Code of Practice for Wales which can be found on the Welsh Government website:  https://www.gov.wales/workplace-recycling

Additional guidance and resources can be found on the WRAP Cymru website:        https://businessofrecycling.wrapcymru.org.uk/

Ceredigion Waste Services acknowledges the ambition of the Welsh government’s goal to make Wales a zero waste nation and is able to offer a range of recycling collections in line with the requirements of the new law as well as collections of general, non-recyclable wastes.
